Corporate Secretary Retires After Nearly 42-Year Tenure at Farm Credit
Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a regional lending cooperative that serves Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, announced that Melissa Driver, corporate secretary, will retire April 30, 2026, after nearly 42 years with the Association.
Driver has called Mount Solon, Va. home her entire life. She joined Farm Credit in May 1984 as a receptionist and advanced to positions of increasing responsibility throughout her long tenure, including loan specialist, branch operations coordinator, training specialist and finally, corporate secretary in 2018. When four different Farm Credit Associations merged in 2001 to create what is Farm Credit of the Virginias today, Driver had the opportunity to assist with the formation of a new agribusiness unit.
Reflecting on her time, Driver shared, “I enjoyed the chance to work in various departments to provide customer service, train and assist our employees, and support our board of directors.” She continued, “It truly takes a team and I am proud to have had the opportunity to be part of the Farm Credit team.”
Pete Cypret, CEO, shared, “We will dearly miss Melissa and her kind spirit, attention to detail and steadfast commitment to meeting the Farm Credit mission. She has served in a number of roles during her four decades with Farm Credit so her broad expertise and knowledge base will be missed across departments. I celebrate Melissa’s accomplishments and wish her all the best in her well-earned retirement.”
Upon retirement, Driver is looking forward to spending more time with her family. She also plans to begin working on some home projects and enjoy not having a set schedule.
