Farm Credit Donates $4,500 to Fostering Champions During All Hands Meeting

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a lending cooperative serving Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, recently made a donation of more than 30 “blessing baskets” in addition to a monetary contribution of $4,500 to Fostering Champions, an organization based in Rocky Mount, Va. whose mission is to support foster teens as they transition out of care.

Founded in 2021, Fostering Champions supports teens across Virginia as they age out of foster care by helping to provide basic necessities, including transitional housing, career skills training, transportation assistance, technology tools and personal items. Fostering Champions’ mission resonated with FCV, which is why FCV chose to support the organization as part of their recent company-wide meeting, “All Hands.” Employees donated hygiene products, food items, cleaning supplies and more to build more than 30 blessing baskets that were presented to Bobby Canipe, founder and president of Fostering Champions, during the All Hands meeting.

Canipe shared, “We are incredibly grateful to Farm Credit for their generosity and commitment to making a difference in our community. Their support of Fostering Champions is more than a financial investment – it is an investment in the lives and futures of young people aging out of foster care, helping transform them into Champions for Life.”

“Giving back is an important part of who we are at Farm Credit of the Virginias, and we are dedicated to strengthening the rural communities we serve,” said Pete Cypret, CEO of FCV. He continued, “Fostering Champions provides vital support to youth facing difficult circumstances, and we are honored to partner with them through this donation of blessing baskets and funding to help meet the needs of those they serve.”
