Farm Credit of the Virginias’ Chief Brand Officer Appointed Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), an agricultural lending cooperative serving Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, proudly announces that Katie Frazier, chief brand officer, has been appointed by Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger as Virginia’s next Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry.

Frazier has been a key member of FCV and our senior leadership team since 2018, initially serving as chief marketing and external affairs officer before transitioning to chief brand officer title. In this role, which she will resume until January 2026, she leads FCV’s marketing strategy, legislative advocacy, educational initiatives, the Farm Credit Knowledge Center and charitable contributions programs. Her leadership has been instrumental in strengthening FCV’s brand, advocating for our mission and advancing our support of farmers, agribusinesses and our rural communities.

“Katie’s exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication to agriculture and deep commitment to rural communities have long been evident to us,” said FCV CEO Pete Cypret. “We are proud to see her service recognized through this appointment. While we will miss her as part of our leadership team, we're thrilled for Katie and confident that her expertise and drive will continue to benefit and advance Virginia’s agricultural and forestry sectors.”

Frazier expressed her gratitude and excitement for the new role, “I am deeply honored to be appointed by Governor-elect Spanberger to serve as the Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry for the Commonwealth of Virginia. With more than twenty years of experience advocating for agriculture, forestry and rural communities, I look forward to working alongside the Governor-elect and her team to provide leadership and direction for Virginia’s top industries. Governor-elect Spanberger has been a steadfast champion of agriculture and forestry since her time in Congress serving on the House Agriculture Committee. Together, we will advance a vision of economic growth and prosperity for our farmers, foresters and agribusinesses.”

Governor-elect Spanberger highlighted the significance of this appointment, “Agriculture is the number-one private industry in Virginia. Our Commonwealth deserves dedicated leadership that brings producers, foresters, business leaders and communities together to protect and grow this critical sector of our economy. That’s why I’m excited to announce Katie Frazier as our next Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry. Especially at this moment of uncertainty across the farm economy, Katie’s decades of experience supporting Virginia’s growers and their families will provide the steady leadership our agriculture and forestry industries need.”
