Farm Credit Welcomes Fravel as Intern

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a lending cooperative that serves Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, announced that Grace Fravel has joined the Association as a generalist intern. She is based at the Verona Operations Center, though she will spend time visiting branches and customer-owners throughout the footprint, as well as shadowing other departments. 

Fravel is originally from Broadway, Va. in Rockingham County, though she currently lives in Mt. Jackson, Va. She graduated from Broadway High School and also attended Massanutten Technical Center, where she earned a certificate in Agriculture Production Technology. She is now a rising senior at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU), where she is majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Human Resources and Marketing. 

Fravel grew up on a beef cattle and poultry operation. She also raised hogs, lambs and cattle to show at the county fair and jackpot shows. She was very active in 4-H and FFA in high school, where she showed livestock, competed in contests and participated in workshops and events. Fravel also held various leadership roles within those organizations. Currently, she active within her church, Trinity UCC, in Timberville, Va., where she is on the Outreach Committee and participates in service projects and other activities. At EMU, she is a team representative for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee where she has the opportunity to be a voice for the school’s athletic programs.

In addition to her background in agriculture, Fravel brings prior experience working at a local greenhouse in Broadway, as well as previously serving as an intern for Virginia Cooperative Extension in Rockingham County. Fravel is excited to bring her open mindset and positive outlook to her internship. She shared, “I hope to connect my passion for agriculture and helping others through my experience and time here this summer. I am looking forward to gaining an insight of each department and learning the day-to-day operations. I am excited to learn about areas that may be of interest to me in a future career.”

“My team and I are thrilled to have Grace join us for the summer! As a generalist, she has the unique opportunity to be with several different departments where she will gain insights from a variety of different perspectives,” shared her mentor, Employee Experience Specialist, Casey Northrop. “I know she will be a huge asset to both our team and FCV as a whole!”

In her spare time, Fravel enjoys being outdoors, practicing softball and exercising.
