Farm Credit Welcomes Moore as Knowledge Center YBS Education Specialist

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a lending cooperative that serves Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, announced that Maddie Moore has joined the Association as the knowledge center young, beginning and small (YBS) education specialist at the Abingdon branch.

Moore, a native of Meadowview in Washington County, Va., brings a strong background in agricultural education to her new role. Her passion for both people and agriculture began early, growing up surrounded by farming and actively participating in the FFA. Moore held multiple leadership positions and competed in numerous state and national events, including Creed Speaking, Livestock Judging and Parliamentary Procedure. She received her American FFA degree, the highest degree obtainable in the National FFA organization. Additionally, Moore served as the 2020–2021 Virginia FFA State Vice President, where she led workshops and events to help students develop agricultural knowledge and leadership skills.

Moore earned an Associate's Degree in Arts and Sciences in education from Virginia Highlands Community College before transferring to Virginia Tech, where she graduated in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural sciences, concentrating in teaching and learning, including a minor in leadership and social change.

Her professional experience includes internships with Farm Credit of the Virginias, and later, the Virginia Cattlemen’s Association, where she later worked full-time as a staff assistant supporting marketing, policy and educational programs. She also served in campus ministry at Christ’s Church at Virginia Tech and continues to volunteer as a youth group leader in her community.

Regarding her new position, Moore shared, “I am excited to return to Farm Credit and work alongside the Knowledge Center team and loan officers to help agriculturalists grow their knowledge and confidence. My goal is to provide opportunities for skill development, mentorship and hands-on experiences that advance the success of agriculturalists of all backgrounds, with emphasis on the YBS audience.”

Kyley Clevenger, director of the Farm Credit Knowledge Center, said, “I’m thrilled to welcome Maddie Moore to Farm Credit of the Virginias full-time, and specifically, to the Knowledge Center team as the YBS education specialist. Maddie brings a strong passion for education, the agriculture industry and our rural communities. Her knowledge, experiences and passions will assist her as she will be working extensively with young, beginning and small farmers/producers who are looking to build, grow and enhance their farming operations and/or agribusinesses.”

Outside of work, Moore spends time kayaking, hiking with her dog Bruno and discovering new coffee shops. She also enjoys cooking, baking and attending concerts.
