Farm Credit Welcomes Organizational Development and Talent Development Specialist

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV) recently announced that Nicholas Sargent has joined the Roanoke branch as Organizational Development and Talent Development Specialist.

Sargent has spent the last 10+ years in Instructional Design, including several years in the role at AgFirst Farm Credit Bank. He has also worked as a Corporate Trainer and Speaker Representative with BlueCross, and even held a brief tenure as a high school Spanish teacher.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Spanish with a minor in Theater from the University of South Carolina. Sargent then went on to earn Masters Degrees in Intercultural Studies and English as a Foreign Language from Columbia International University.

Sargent was raised in Cape Cod, MA, but lived and worked in Columbia, SC for 20 years. Most recently, he and his family moved to Roanoke, VA, in 2017. He enjoys being active in his community, and has volunteered with Boy Scouts of America since 2012, serving as Den Leader, Training Coordinator and Outdoor Chair.

In his new role, Sargent is excited to bring his background in Instructional Design and expand his skillset, welcoming new hires and developing positive employee development experiences.

Melanie Craig, Chief Human Resources Officer, says, “Nicholas not only brings a wealth of training and development knowledge, he also brings a myriad of positive attributes, such as excitement, eagerness and curiosity.  His desire to learn more about agriculture, the Farm Credit mission, and our employees and borrowers each day will guide him to success in this role.”

In his spare time, Sargent likes to meditate, explore metaphysics and spirituality, and go on adventures. He has traveled to Colorado, Arizona, and Idaho recently in search of unique experiences!
