Wytheville Native Joins Farm Credit as Loan Assistant
Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV) recently announced that Leigh Beamer of Wythe County, Va., will be assuming the role of Loan Assistant out of the Wytheville Office. Beamer will report to Vanessa Brown, the Wytheville branch’s Loan Operations Supervisor
Beamer grew up helping her family run their stocker cattle operation, and she has been riding horses since she was just four years old. Still pursuing those interests, she currently owns an off-the-track Thoroughbred, lovingly named Larry. In addition, she was actively involved in her local FFA club throughout her childhood.
After graduating from George Wythe High School, Beamer started her college career locally at Wytheville Community College. She then went on to graduate from the University of Mary Washington in 2017 with her BS in Economics. Prior to joining the FCV team, Beamer served as a statistical and budget analyst, and also has experience as a claims adjuster.
Recently returning to the area from Washington D.C., she is excited to be a part of the Farm Credit association, “My first month at FCV has been amazing. I love the family atmosphere and how community focused the association is. Everyone has made me feel so welcome, and has been more than willing to lend a hand.”
In regards to her new position, she shares “My experience in other areas of work and environments should provide me the ability to apply new perspectives and solutions.” Beamer and her fiancée are looking to purchase some land in the area and start their own farm. She explains, “I truly appreciate rural Virginia and its people. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!”
In her spare time, Beamer enjoys playing and performing traditional Appalachian music, and has even recorded a few CDs! She also spends her time knitting and sewing her own clothes.
Vanessa Brown, Loan Operations Supervisor, is pleased to share Beamer’s contributions to the Association, “She brings professionalism and creativity to our team. We’re so excited to have her on board!”
