Briefly describe your involvement in 4-H. Growing up we had 4H in the classroom along with talent competitions called Share The Fun which I always enjoyed being a part of along with my friends.
Are you involved in any other clubs or organizations? I currently belong to the Carolinas Virginias chapter of ASFMRA which is an appraisal and farm manager association. We promote and offer education for rural appraisers and farm managers.
What is the best piece of advice you received growing up? My mom always looked for ways to instill appreciation in us for the blessings we had. She would often remind me that no matter what I was going through someone out there was going through something worse.
What is your favorite childhood memory? When we were children our excitement for Christmas would often overtake why we were celebrating it. My mom had my dad build a small manger and my sister and brother and I were asked to fill it with straw, one piece at a time. The way we earned the straw was by doing something kind for someone else without them asking or knowing about it. We were proud when on Christmas morning the manger was filled with a nice bed of straw.
What is your favorite song or artist? My favorite song is probably the hymn "How Great Thou Art" and I love to hear Carrie Underwood sing it. Brings back memories of listening to my family when they would get together to play music.
Tell us about your hobbies. My current hobbies are taking drives on the weekends on gravel roads and learning how to knit. One is relaxing and the other frustrating but I still enjoy both.
What was your dream job as a child? Growing up I dreamed of being a veterinarian because I loved animals. I have a lot of respect for those that made the commitment.
What advice would you give a job seeker who is considering a job at FCV? The advice I would off er to someone interested in working with Farm Credit is to put yourself out there. It can get hectic but the people that you will be working with offer support and will help you along the way.
