Farm Credit Welcomes 2018 Summer Intern to Full-Time Generalist Role

In July, Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV) welcomed back 2018 summer intern, Jourdyn Friend, to assume a Generalist position. Prior to joining the team full-time, Friend worked for the association’s HR department part-time while she completed her studies. Friend will continue working out of the Staunton office.

Friend is from Richmond, Virginia, although recently made the move to Charlottesville, Virginia.

Friend graduated from Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) in May 2019, where she studied Business Administration and Human Resources Management. While at EMU, Friend was a member of the Black Student Union, and Destiny’s Daughter Ministry, a mentoring and leadership program dedicated to the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical empowerment of young women. Additionally, Friend was on the Women’s Basketball team all four years she attended EMU.

During Friend’s 2018 summer internship with the FCV HR department, she got the opportunity to tour our footprint, work closely with our staff and customers, and learn the ins and outs of the association. Friends said, “My Farm Credit internship presented a host of opportunities that allowed me to grow as a professional and individual. I accepted the challenge to step outside my comfort zone and I’m grateful this association provided me the chance to do so.”

In regards to what she looks forward to bringing to the FCV team, Friend shared, “I am looking forward to bringing new ideas to the association, and pitching in to serve as an asset wherever it is needed.”

Kay Manchester, Chief Training & HR Officer, shared, “Jourdyn is an exciting addition to the Generalist program.  She has impressive ideas and is eager to make a difference!”
