Farm Credit Welcomes Wise as Loan Officer in Culpeper Branch

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a lending cooperative that serves Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, announced that Tanner Wise has joined the Association as a loan officer in the Culpeper branch.

Wise grew up on a fifth-generation farm in Buckingham County, Va. where his family raised beef cattle, laying hens, sheep and goats. Growing up, Wise was active in a number of agricultural organizations, including 4-H, the Buckingham Cattlemen’s Association, the Katahdin Hair Sheep International Organization, the Virginia Sheep Breeders Association and FFA. He received the highest honors from 4-H and FFA, the Virginia 4-H All-Star Award and the American FFA Degree, respectively. Wise showed livestock and competed in several other contests throughout middle and high school. Additionally, he served as the 2023-2024 Virginia Farm Bureau Ambassador where he had the opportunity to promote Farm Bureau and advocate for agriculture.

Wise earned an associate degree in Agribusiness in 2022 from Southside Virginia Community College as part of his high school’s dual enrollment program, and he graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Animal & Poultry Sciences in 2024. Wise currently resides in Madison County, where he is a member of both Virginia Farm Bureau and Virginia Farm Bureau Young Farmers.

Prior to joining Farm Credit, Wise served as an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at a local high school. He also brings experience from several internships, including Virginia Cooperative Extension and Colonial Farm Credit. Regarding his new role, Wise shared, “I have an extensive background in agriculture, and I believe this will allow me to better support and connect with our customer-owners and other community members. I am excited to learn and grow in this role and to have the opportunity to serve the agriculture industry.”

Becky Ramsey, regional sales and lending manager, said, “We are excited to welcome Tanner to the team. He comes with a passion for agriculture and an eagerness to learn that will allow him to build strong relationships with our local borrowers.”

Outside of work, Wise enjoys fishing, spending time with friends, attending local tractor pulls and rodeos, working on vehicles and advocating for agriculture. He also hopes to get back into farming soon, now that he has relocated to Madison County.
