Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV) recently announced that Corey Huffman of Warrenton, Virginia, has joined the association as a Loan Officer. He will be reporting to Ryan White and working out of the Harrisonburg branch.

A recent graduate of Bridgewater College, Huffman is excited to bring new perspectives and ideas to the Farm Credit team, and is determined to make an impact “I will strive to be as knowledgeable as I can to serve the agricultural community to the best of my ability.” With a strong background in sales and freshly completed degree in Business Administration, Huffman will certainly be an asset to the lending team. “This is my first time serving in a position like this but I am very excited to learn and grow in this role,” Huffman said. He continued, “I felt like Farm Credit would be a perfect place for me to put a lot of the concepts I learned in college to use.”

In high school, Huffman was a member of the local FFA, participated in many community events and was involved with the Forestry Team. Athletics have also played a significant role in his life. Huffman was an All-State thrower on his high school track team, and continued his athletic career throughout college. He threw shot-put, discus, javelin, weight and hammer all four years for Bridgewater College, where they impressively won 3 Division Championships. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

In regards to his new role, Huffman said, “I enjoy helping others and doing something where I can make a difference. Being a Loan Officer here at Farm Credit will allow me to do both. I’m looking forward to when I can put my new knowledge to use out in the local community.” He hasn’t been sitting idle in the office though, Huffman has already been on a few farm tours. “I’ve been able to start assisting other loan officers with their existing accounts, so it’s been nice to be making a difference this early on!” he said.

Ryan White, Commercial Ag Loan Officer and Huffman’s supervisor said, “Corey is a very helpful person and has added value to our office quickly. He will be a huge asset for our rural communities lending needs.”
