Chambers Joins Farm Credit Board of Directors

Robert Chambers has been elected to the Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV) board of directors by its customer-owners. This role will allow Chambers to aid FCV in providing financing to rural homeowners, farmers and landowners in 96 counties in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland

“Bob’s diverse background in business, agriculture and other board service will bring valuable insights to the board’s discussions as it continues to set effective strategies for providing our customer-owners first-rate service,” said Peery Heldreth, CEO of FCV. “Farm Credit’s cooperative model includes democratic representation, and has been a cornerstone in our ability to deliver critical financial services to our customers for more than 100 years.”

Chambers owns and operates Brooke Farms, LLC, in Orange County, Virginia, where he raises 200 beef cows and 2,500 acres of grain and hay. He also owns operates, with his wife, Missy, Liberty Equipment Repair Inc. and CCB Napa Auto and Truck parts, both in Fredericksburg. In addition, he is a director of the Fredericksburg Southern States Petroleum and Orange Madison Cooperative.

“I was interested in serving on the Farm Credit board to support our local rural areas and our farmers, who have the job and responsibility of feeding the world,” said Chambers. “Agriculture and technology are changing the world quickly, and Farm Credit needs to be there to help farmers move into the future.”

Chambers is originally from West Virginia, and has been farming in Virginia for nearly 30 years. He and his wife are members of Wilderness Community Church.
